Description
Magnum Photos is thrilled to announce a 3-year partnership with FUTURES, a platform supporting emerging photographers from across the globe.
Drawing from Magnum’s 75 years of experience as a global photo agency, the partnership will see the creation of a complete, three-year educational course titled FUTURES: Learn with Magnum Photos, designed to accompany, support and inspire the next generation of photographers.
Created exclusively for artists within the FUTURES program, the course aims to develop critical thinking and a practical understanding of the contemporary landscape of photography as a profession.
Photographers and experts at the forefront of the industry will be invited to share their knowledge through presentations and case studies, and engage in discussions with participants. FUTURES artists will also be invited to a private Discord channel which will be a space to build communities through discussions, work sharing and networking during the three-year program.
The curriculum for each year will be divided into four modules: Ethics, Inspiration, Foundations and Practice. Throughout the program, FUTURES artists will explore topics ranging from ethics of representation, methods of research and working on long-term projects, the foundations of grant writing, and will learn essential skills in working with galleries and museums.
The course is organized and run by Bayryam Bayryamali, Magnum Coordinator, and Sonia Jeunet, Education Director at Magnum Photos.
Through case studies and conversations with photographers and renowned industry experts, the program aims to develop critical thinking and practical understanding of the contemporary landscape of the photography profession.
